SPF record generator

Tick the services that send email for your domain, add any extra IPs and copy one SPF TXT record, with a live count of DNS lookups. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Who sends email for this domain?

Tick at least one sender, or add an IP address or include, to build the record.

How to add the record

  1. Log in to your DNS host (the company where your domain's DNS is managed, such as your registrar or Cloudflare).
  2. Add a TXT record with the host @ and the value from the generator above. If a record starting with v=spf1 already exists, edit that one instead of adding a second.
  3. Wait for DNS to update (usually minutes, up to 48 hours), then check your live record or run the email deliverability checker.

FAQ

What is an SPF record?

An SPF record is a TXT record on your root domain that starts with v=spf1. It lists the servers and services allowed to send email for your domain, so receiving mail servers can spot mail from anyone else.

Can I have two SPF records?

No. A domain can have only one SPF record. If there are two, receivers treat SPF as broken and it fails. Merge every include and IP into a single v=spf1 record instead of adding a second one.

What is the 10 lookup limit?

Checking an SPF record may use at most 10 DNS lookups. Each include, a, mx, exists and redirect counts, and so do the lookups inside the records you include. Over 10, SPF fails with a permerror, so remove senders you no longer use.

Should I use ~all or -all?

~all (soft fail) is the safe default: mail from unlisted servers is accepted but marked as suspicious. Switch to -all (hard fail) once you are sure every service that sends mail for your domain is listed.

Why do my contact form emails go to spam?

Usually because the server sending the notification isn't listed in your SPF record, or the From address uses a domain that hasn't authorized it. Send form notifications From an address on your own domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up, and put the visitor's email in Reply-To instead of From.
