DMARC record generator

Pick a policy, add the email that should receive DMARC reports and copy the ready _dmarc TXT record for your domain. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere. Already published one? Check your DMARC record.

Enter your domain to build the record.

How to add the record

  1. Log in to your DNS host (the company where your domain's DNS is managed, such as your registrar or Cloudflare).
  2. Add a new TXT record with the host _dmarc and the value from the generator above.
  3. Wait for DNS to update (usually minutes, up to 48 hours), then check it with the email deliverability checker.

FAQ

What is a DMARC record?

A DMARC record is a TXT record published at _dmarc.yourdomain.com that starts with v=DMARC1. It tells receiving mail servers what to do with mail that claims to be from your domain but fails SPF and DKIM checks, and where to send reports about it.

Which policy should I start with?

Start with p=none and a rua= address so you receive reports without blocking anything. When the reports show all your real senders passing, move to p=quarantine, and later to p=reject.

What does rua mean?

rua is the address that receives aggregate reports: daily XML summaries from mailbox providers showing which servers sent mail as your domain and whether it passed SPF, DKIM and DMARC. It is written as rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com.

Do I need SPF and DKIM first?

Yes. DMARC passes only when SPF or DKIM passes and the passing domain aligns with the domain in the From address. Without SPF or DKIM in place, every message fails DMARC, so set them up before moving past p=none.

Why do my form emails go to spam?

Usually because the From address uses a domain that hasn't authorized the server sending the mail. Send form notifications From an address on your own domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up, and put the visitor's email in Reply-To instead of From.
